^^^ How the hell did you hit 142 on a 12.0? Bad launch, sandbagging?

158 mph - 159 mph, not exactly sure..., the computer shut down a cylinder when I hit that speed. It had a little bit more, maybe 165-170! But like I said, the computer shuts it down. 2002 2002 6-speed Trans Am WS6 T-Tops bone stock!!

Seriously CamaroWhoopAss! It is governed! It hits about 159 and it 'shuts down' until about 155 and then 'turns back on'. Goes back up to 159 etc. etc. This 02 WS6 is my third f-body (99 Z28, 01 TA, 02 WS6) and I've maxed them all out at around 159 (because of the governor). They all did the same! There's only about 500 rpm until red-line at that point so I assume they would only get up to about 165-170 until they had nothing left !!

150 mph with my 99 Trans Am. Had to slow down due to my spoiler doing it's job and my rear tires started rubbing. I yelled out "Houston, we've got a problem".

I found very little information regarding this, but a few others did claim the same on other forums. However, others said no they didn't have governors, and I remember one of the car mags back in the day testing a WS6 and it went over 160mph, no governor. Upon further digging however, one person claimed that some of the cars were governed and some weren't, depending on what tires they were ordered with from Chevy. So, my apologies. Seems some of them may indeed be governored, allthough I wasn't able to confirm it for sure as it was all word of mouth from only a couple forum members elsewhere.

This is correct info. If the car wasn't outfitted with ZR rated tires from the factory, they were governed.
