And yay they do know a little about dragging, currently the car runs 8's @ near 180mph.
Having the weight behind the axle makes a bif difference compared to just having people on the back seats.

Thanks guys, i usually drive it 15 miles to school or about 20-30 to the beaches so i may put it back in, i have the rear seat out but that was because i was tired of giving people rides. And i've thought about the half tank idea, thats easy to do since this things sucks so much gas..

I took mine out, my amp and soon to be Nitrous bottle is going to be nestled right at home in that usefull space. I wanted my amp and Nitrous bottle behind the quarter to stay hidden, perfect use of wasted space. On my third gen I have a Zex Kit 10lb, bottle mounted in there.

like i staed before, if you race a lot on the track, take it out when you get there. i dont know about you guys, but i wouldnt want to spend the money on AAA because i wanted to save 50lbs just in case i ran into another LS1 that had the tire....... makes no sense. if you have enough power, you shouldnt have to worry about a spare tire that will save you when you need it. my camaro has over 500rwhp and there isnt much around here that will beat it, but if i find some one that beats me, im not going to take the spare out and race again..... makes no sense to me. but do as you will, i will keep modding and getting faster with the safety of my spare

Mine came out the day I bought it. I didn't take it out for the weight factor, when I bought the car it didn't have the little piece to keep the tire in place so it was sitting in there banging around. I have free towing through my insurance so if I ever get a flat I'll just get it towed to my work and do what I need to there. I would hate driving around on the spare cause of the huge size difference between the spare and reg tire, I know it wouldn't do any imedate damage, but why risk it IMO.

i agree with most of you for the reasons you said that you took them out... and besides the spare that they come with is
but it sucks getting a flat and having to wait a couple of hours for some dumb *** in a tow truck to come tow you back to where every it is you go with your car.... all the while he probably scratched the **** out of your bumper or something else on your car.... that being said you could of changed your own within 15-20 minutes and been on your way albeit with grease and grim on your self, but its easy and its free... so with that I say keep the spare unless your going to the track
btw im probably just aggrevated with the fact that cadillac decided that the cts-v's dont need a spare... i guess the figure that the owners will just keep on buy the $400 a piece runflats that are oem

The real question, is who would feel safe with a spare on the car? I took mine out, if I have a flat I will pay the $12 to have the tire plugged until I can buy a new tire. A spare is suicide, with the power of a LS1. Just my .02

They ARE in the car otherwise, but since I have a NO options hardtop, without any aftermarket audio crap, I'm already ahead of the (weight) game.
