What more to strip out of car? Expecially wiring...
I am tearing my 94 Z down to make it a track/street car. I'm going to keep the car street legal, but will most likely be leaving the interior bare with a 10 pt cage and a custom dash. I have already removed most of the HVAC components and everything else from behind the dash. I'm looking to see what all components I can get rid of, and what the process for getting rid of some of the wiring should be. There is just so much wiring behind the dash, and I know I will not be needing some of it anymore. What has anyone else done? I just want to get rid of every non-essential part.

you might want to pm 'SUX2BU' for help on the wiring.
did you take out the bumper supports???
if you got the HVAC, controls, radio, speakers, interior, carpet, everything behind the dash... i think the only other things left are bumper supports, and swiss cheesing the frame. lol.

Yea, I disassembled the front end yesterday and hacked off the stuff behind the bumper. Interior is all gone, HVAC is gone, radio, and seats. Like I said, there is just a ton of wiring behind the dash, and I know I can get rid of a lot of it. Im thinking I may just trace each one and remove it from the fuse box? Like radio, airbags, ABS.... ???

Is lexan/plexiglass considered "street legal" by the feds/state D.O.T. law??
If so, there's some more weight savings, along with racing seat(s) and fiberglass/c.f. panels (if anyone makes them).

DD, now thats starting to get on the expensive end. Haha.... I guess I'm looking for more labor intensive stuff right now being that I don't have much money. I have to PAY taxes, I don't get to get money back like everyone else.

I vote take out all the wireing and go with a painless system. All the stock wiring ways about 100-150lbs. the painless shipped weighs about 50lbs or atleast thats what summit said.

If I go with the painless system, that is for the motor only. I still have to decide what I'm going to do with all the interior wiring. I can opt to run all mechanical gauges inside, but that will be pricey VERY fast. I'd like to retain as much of the factory gauges as possible.
