waving to other fbodies
#81
I only waive to other clean super sports and classic cars of all types. When stopped at a light it is usually a quick hand up waive, when passing its a modified out the window biker type waive. If stopped at a gass station behing or beside I usually try to strike up conversation. Just about always get a waive back or a nice conversation. I think it is easy to spot the people who care about their cars and the culture vs the punks.

I wave at every F-body that is passing in oncomming traffic. Think I've only waved about twice in the last 12 months. Not many F-Body's here. I guess I should drive pass shop windows and wave at my reflection, I'm guaranted to get a wave back.

The muscle car "purists" definitely don't like our cars. I think the sleek, aerodynamic styling, which contrasts the older muscle car look, is what turns them off. Personally, the look of 4th gen F bodies is one of my all time favorites, and I like the older muscle cars just as much. If half of these people were to actually drive a 4th gen car and feel the awesome power and responsivness that modern engine management technology and fuel injection provide (not to mention double the gas mileage), or feel the razor sharp handling that makes the old cars seem like school buses by comparison, or just experience how much more solid a car in general it is, they might sing a different tune. They might also realize that we are just like them - we just want to drive the baddest car on the street.

I usually get more waves from Cobra owners around here than other f-body owners. I wave at them if they look over though, usually it's easy to tell if they are a car enthusiasts or not. Some of the vette owners are cool, I did have one guy in a late 80's TPI vette snub me at a red light one day going to work. Basically he got his *** waxed by an LS1 so I guess he doesn't feel so big and bad now. I wave at anyone that drives an f-body, if it's a nice third gen, 2nd gen, LT1 or whatever I usually try to be nice and respectful. Some people are out in fairy land though.

I never have waved before and I've only been waved at a couple times. I don't because most F-bodies around here are V6's and no one is really an enthusiast. My ex drove a V6 camaro and got waved at all the time I guess. She bitched alot about it, but she bitched alot anyway.

In south LA we wave all the time, alot of times I'm just tapping my fingers to a song in my old truck and people always wave. I always wave to people in front of houses and stuff. It's funny I went to panama city beach for memorial day last year and my buddy and I were stuck in traffic at like 2 mph. There was a white 69 SS vert stopped in the other lane. My buddy told him nice car and when I got close so did I. The guy on a motorcycle behind him flipped out "geez what the ****, it's a nice car, how many times are you going to say it BLAH BLAH"
Im so used to waving that when I was a gunner in Iraq I would do the rock sign with my pinky and index finger to every soldier/truck/gunner that passed. I didn't even notice I did it for a few months. I went back to waving when I got home because that is reserved for "gunners" only. Kind of like saluting is reserved for soldiers. But hell I like waving or flashing the deuce!
