When I hear someone refer to their car as "the Z" a Nissian is the first thing to come to my mind.

But yes, Chevy was first with the 1967 Z28....the Datsun 240Z didn't come out till 1969.

You're absolutely right on that point. I drive a 350Z and when I'm around mostly import guys and refer to the car as the Z which I rarely do anyways they know what car that is. But with a dominate domestic crowd and usually if they are a little older.....the Z means a camaro. I usually refer to my car as the 350 only, it's others that call it a Z. I would say Datsun/Nissan though put more effort into marketing it as the Z car than Chevy did so that's why I think the majority will say 350Z. Then again......we do have canadians that refer to both as the Zed too lol.

My dad calls his Z06 the "Z". Guess it just matters which one you own.

Another Datsun/Nissan vote. Anytime I heard someone say "I own a Z", the 240Z, 260Z, 280Z is what they are referring to. I just haven't heard Camaro owners say just 'Z'.

Well you know it's a "Z28 SS" right? So technically it's correct to call it the Z, that's fine.
