What does a tune consist of
I'm just starting to get used to some of the lingo on here, but i still see people talking about getting their car "tuned". Now what all exactly goes through the process of tuning?

The tune pretty much depends on what you have done to your car. To put it simple you are just changing the perimeters of your PCM to match the modifications to your car. This is usually done on a dyno. The tune can also be used to max the potential of a unmodified car to get the most from what you already have.A new tune is recommended after most major changes such as headers, cam, or a converter if you have an A4,etc.....

Yea, basically your cars computer is factory set to allow so much air in and add so much fuel. When you mod your car such as freeing up the exhaust flow, or intake track, especially heads or cam that changes the way the engine works, that old tune is no longer up to date with how the car is running and should run. So using a programmer a tuner can adjust your ratios and whatnot to give your car maximum performance, Unless your carful you dont want to do it yourself, b/c if you lean it out too much or run it too rich it could blow your engine
