3.42's only came on the six speed, and I don't know about you but unless John Force was in the drivers seat I would welcome a M6 driver with the same mods from a roll or from a dig. More often than not an A4 will come out on top unless you someone who really knows there car and how to shift. With the shift extension from a stall from a roll you get nowhere near the rpm dropoff that most A4 cars get.

I know 2 people with 98 F-bods who had A4 and 3.42's in them. One even pulled the diff apart to confirm it. The other checked his tire/gear/rpm on a chart and it equated exactly to 3.42's.

The 98 Z28 A4 ran a 13.3@105 bone stock. WIth DR's and a weld-in muffler I saw it run 13.1@104.

The TA I cannot speak for as I did not see it's track times.

Did they buy these cars new?

I doubt it came from GM that way. If it did, somebody f-ed up on the assembly line.

An A4 with 305ish rwhp and 3.23s will usually trap higher than 103-104 (unless the weather or altitude sucks)....more like 105-106 in good weather.

No but GM markings were on the pinion of the one that got torn down IIRC. I heard of this in 2 incidents so far. Both totally unrelated and without telling the other person about the other. Sounds to me like it is very possible. Hell, if some F-bods got LS6 blocks, then why couldnt an A4 get an M6 gear/tune?

I never said it wasn't possible, I just said according to GM they did not build cars that way.
