Some of the older A4 z28's with 16" wheels and tires were speed limited but I think it was around 112mph.

As stated above, the only way this is true is if the car was originally optioned without the Z-rated tires.

So long as you had the Z-rated tires stock, the factory limit is set to something like 162-163mph.

The tire info should be on the driver's side door jamb. If it states Z-Rated tires, it will be limited to 160 MPH. If it does not have Z-Rated tires, it will be limited to 120 MPH.

haha, 108, haha. but seriously some of the older z28's with a certain performance package (g32?) were governed to 120 you can tell these cars because they have a 120 mph speedo. my dad has one of these cars. it has real low rear end gears and a 120 speedo and "crappy" tires.

keep in mind that the speed limiters are easily removed with even a simple computer tune or by using something like the Hypertech programmer or such.

thats true, its just hard to comprehend the fact that a 310hp 6 speed 5.7 liter v8 engine would stop at 108 when i did 125 with my P.O.S 4 cylinder passat

I used to run my (non Z-rated) BFG DRs at pretty high speeds on the expressway. They did fine for short blasts, other than feeling a little loose above 110mph.

I think the speed rating will only be an issue for sustained speeds.
