Default windshield replacement.

hi when a windshield is changed out is it a routine job,or nerve wracking monents when it's push/pull ,cut the sealant,damage interior area and lot's of dirt and debris all about can i hear of your experiences on it thanks billyb.

it isnt a huge deal if you have the proper tools and the material to do it, getting it out is a total pain, even with an air knife, but if you just pay attention when you put it in, it shouldnt be a big mess at all

I just paid somebody to change mine out and he got it out and then in, in about 50 minutes so i was thrilled

Had the windsheild replaced on my '89 Firebird, they did a perfect job. No mess, no worries; looked as good as new.

No problems whatsoever on my old '96 Formula. Professionally installed within 1 hour with no leaks, mess, nothing.

my dads been replacing windshield for 40 years and ive been helping him ever since i could pick up a blade. its very routine, and if you go to the right place youll never have to worry about it again. idk the exact process for a new f-bod, but it should go like this..... remove the windshield wipers, cowl, rearview mirror, cut windshield out, clean old urethane base, primer the area's of exposed paint to stop rust, lay down a new bead, set windshield, reassemble, wait 30 minutes and drive away. one lesson is leave your windows cracked and dont slam your doors, it can ruin the seal if you dont let it set for at least 24 hours. make sure you keep excessive pressure from pushing out on the windshield for the first 24 hours or leak can happen.

This wasn't in my z28 but in my 4runner, I bought it with little cracks in it's windshield, one morning I went out to it and there was a HUGE crack across the whole bottom. This was covered under my insurance, so I took it to Safelite, it's an auto glass replacement shop/store, and they had it out and replaced within 45mins. I don't know about doing it yourself, I think I'd rather get it done, I'd be worried about leaks and stuff.

your lucky you had insurance, safelite charges out the ***.. like 75 bucks an hour around here, plus double the costs for materials.
