Yup thats what I got from that thread too. I let it sit for maybe two minutes and just keep the rpms low if it's that cold out. All seems good to go after driving around between 5-10 mins.

mine has piston slap when its cold out. Sounds embarrasing, so I let it warm up till the slap is gone then drive it

When I got my cam I was told to allways let my car warm up before taking it out. The large lift on an aftermarket can break the valve springs if they are not fully warm is what I was told, so I allways allow mine time to warm up before raising complete hell!

I don't know about all these cammed cars or if that makes a difference, but I just get in and go. Think about the mid 90s geo in the grocery store parking lot that's still kicking. The old dude just fires it up and takes off. He's done it for years and it's ok. What makes an fbody an exception?

The temp gauge measures coolant temp, that's not oil related really. The oil we put in our cars protects at a range of temps, that's why you put in different weights for different conditions right? I have mobil 5w-30 in my car. Owner's manual says thats good from -30 to to w/e. If it's not lubricating 1min after startup you are damaging the engine even at idle then?

I just take off after I put on my seatbelt, maybe 30 sec later with radio adjustments, and I drive relatively normal. 2k rpm in sixth is pretty fast in my car for when I'm running late. I don't think that damages much but I really don't know much about it.
I think it's a waste to let it warm up to 160 or 180 though. Mine will take 10min to do that on a 32degree day. Id say drive normal for first 5-10min like previously said. Who needs to drag somebody three min away from your house? I squeel tiresaround my house and the cops know me well now and will wait down the road for me.

i like ur style. i like to b a little more careful 6500 is my limit 4 cold starts. sometimes when im serious i let it bounce off the rev limiter bout 10 times

i always let mine sit for about 2 minutes and then ***** foot it in the winter. sometimes if the heater is taking too long to kick in ill sit at a light and neutral rev it to about 1k ish on and off.

I normally let mine warm up til the needle moves. About 2 min. It is definately more important on cammed cars than stock but it is a good idea anyway. Its not worth a motor to me to be impatient.

i let mine run until it idles down and that take it easy, i shift below 2k, i only go 3.5mi to work.
