I rev match usually. i don't even realise that i do it most of the time. i don't like to let the revs come up as i know it's hard on the clutch. Most of the time i'll pop the car outta gear as i come to a stop and use the clutch to take off and then i just don't use it when i shift as i can get it into gear without it.~Cole~

I use the brakes for slowing down and rev matching for speeding up (down shifting into the power band). I also use rev matching for cornering prep (sometimes).

I usually do. A friend asked about that one day when we were cruising around and he did not realize that I was doing that until I told him. That's why he drives an auto.

Who here know how a manual trans works? Anybody here drive a big truck.
With a car transmission that what the synros do. Do dont have to rev match. It is not hard on the clutch at all. There is no torque at all with a down shift if u take ur foot off the gas. Unless u want to blow the synrows always use the clutch. If you think its kool to rev match it will not hurt. But it does nothing. Big trucks dont have synros that is y u have to rev match them.

I usually rev-match to 3rd or 4th when slowing down on the highway to get some engine braking. The only other time is when racing someone from a roll.
It may be cool to rev match all the time to not use the clutch, but really, why bother? I question how much it'll really save the synchros (even if you never mess up), plus it's not like you'll wear our your calves from pushing the clutch too much.

If I'm rolling up to a stoplight, I'll just press the clutch in and put in into neutral and use the brakes to slow down. Yeah, it's tougher on the brakes, but it's easier for me. If racing or some other time when I'm not coming to a complete stop, then I'll rev match it.

But, when I am doing 75 in 6th gear and I want to down shift into 3rd, rev matching is the only safe and smart way. In this case speeding up as quickly as possible is the goal (you know smokin a stang). Without rev matching the cars kinetic energy would be used to spin the rotating assembly up to speed, this would slightly slow the car down. Thus rev matching is a must to achieve the goal. It is even more if I am going 60 because I would be going for 2nd gear!
A simple rule of thumb applies here: "There is no one right way for all things!"
