Calibration for 3.73's?

Calibration for 3.73's?
Well my gears whine and as you know I am picky as hell so out they are coming. I would like 3.73's or 3.90's(if they make those for our cars?) but AM NOT! WILLING to pay $400 for a handheld tuner just to correct my speedometer. I once thought I saw a $50 module or something from SLP that did it but I cant find it anymore
If I cannot re-calibrate for under $75ish I am just putting new 3.42's in.
(Pinion bearing went out, gears came out and bearing was replaced and obviously the thing now has 2 wear-patterns and whines and I do not like it).

How far off will the speedo be with 4.10's in an M6? Sorry to highjack!

Would I be able to just drive to Houston and have LPE do it or something? I mean, it wouldnt take but a second. In fact, I am going to visit them Saturday (Friend has GTO that needs a tune) and I will ask about it.
The MAIN REASON I am changing gears is as mentioned, the pinion bearing shitted out on me and after they re-shimmed the gears they whine a bit b/c of 80K miles of wear in 1 pattern and now it is changed. What is the likelyhood the new gears will whine if set-up correctly? They shouldnt, right?

Ok, I looked at some gearing/rpm specs and really like the shift points with 3.73's over the 4.10's. WIth 3.73's I will still retain my 162mph (limited) top speed in 5th as well as be able to utilize 4th gear in the 1/4 mile. What kind of performance gains in the 1/4 mile can I expect to gain from 3.42's to 3.73's? Also, I would assume on the highway from a roll I will do better than a stock M6 car at any given mph because I should have more horsepower at that speed as well. (Most highway punches WILL NOT force me to start in 4th and them in 3rd, so I should see a benefit, shouldnt I?)

I wouldnt pay 100 for a mail order speedo re-cal tune either. Just drive it to a place and let them plug in and fix it for you. If they are set up right, they shouldnt whine. After I set up my Motive 4.10s, they were quiet as could be, cruising, and coasting. It wasnt until I started beating the **** outta them after break in that they began to whine a bit on decel.
As far as gearing goes...you will NOT be dissapointed if you went 4.10s. I went from 12.5s in the 1/4, to 12.3s swapping from 3.42s to 4.10s. Just like they say its a waste to do 3.23s-3.42s in an auto, I say its a waste to do 3.42-3.73 in an m6. I have a buddy that did 3.73s and immediately took them out for 4.30s.
As far as utilizing 4th gear in the 1/4, the 4.10s were PERFECT for a stock or bolt-on car in the 1320. Any less gear is not optimum. I crossed the line with my shift-lite on, which was set to 5900.

I agree 100% with everything said above. You WONT be dissapointed with 4.10s. I have motives as well, and if set up properly they are as quiet as stock.
