I refer to my own car as a "Camaro", and people call it that. Never had a problem being called something it's not. Now that it has an SS hood and spoiler, I wouldn't mind being called an SS... from a distance. Any closer, no excuses, because I still have Z28 badges on.

I have a Grand Prix and were are always referred to as Grand Ams. There have been people with Grand Prixs that have gotten tickets and the ticket will say Grand Am instead of Grand Prix.

When I had my FOR SALE sign on the Formula. I had all sorts of stuff being asked and being called.
"What model is that?"
Me: It's a Formula"
"Yeah but what model"
Me: "FORMULA"
"Does that Camaro have a V8?"
Me: "It's an LT1"
"But, does it have a V8?"....after that I got a liittle mad
Me: "That's what it says on the bumper"..(drives off)
I have had it all, I'm really suprised how many people do not know anything about F-Body's.

I remember back in H.S. this rich girl would sometimes drive her father's ferrari to school. People would say, "nice ferrari" She would say, "It's not a ferrari, it is a ferrari testarossa." So pretentious. Ever since then, I will never, never, never, never, never, correct someone on what my car is. I will be grateful someone complemented my car. No matter whether they refer to it as a Camaro, Firebird, Firehawk, Trans Am, GTO, Mustang, Civic, Yugo or school bus.

I have a Formula, but for simplicity I tell people its a Firebird.
The entire Pontiac f-body line is Firebird.
Firebird (V6)
Firebird Formula
Firebird Formula WS6
Firebird Formula Firehawk
Firebird Trans AM
Firebird Trans AM WS6
Firebird Trans AM Firehawk
Notice something.... they are all Firebird.
Same thing applies to the Chevrolet f-body.
Camaro (V6)
Camaro Z28
Camaro SS
etc
When you get right down to it, its Firebird and Camaro. Everything else is options on the base vehicle. And on top of that the two vehicles are 85% identical.

This cracks me up everytime I say what car I drive to people. I call it a WS6 sometimes and people look at me wierd, then I follow up with T/A. Wierd look still continues. Followed by I drive a Trans AM, still not registering with them. Then I just say firebird and a light clicks on in their head. Which is immediately followed by like a camaro? I smile and nod and agree as best I can.
This about along the lines of the whole LS1/corvette motor talk. Just smile and nod...

I met a guy with a Mach 1 the other day at the mall parking garage. After i nice rev-off, we park and chat it up. Cool guy, but the first thing he asks is "It that a Trans Am or a WS-X?"... At least he knew it had either an LT1 or an LS1 in it...

Everyone I hang out with is trained on what my car is, haha. With my old 92' Firebird, some girl said she didn't like my car because her friend was killed in a Corvette. My cousin promptly corrected her though. That got called a Camaro multiple times.
Now I just call my Firehawk my "Trans Am" when talking to most people. I call it a Firehawk if I feel like explaining it or if I think they'll know what it is.
