Is it worth going through the hassle of selling an A4 car to get an M6?

Yes they are, when all 6 speeds are in an auto trans.

here's the truth about it...no matter which one you have, you're going to wish you had the other at some point. When i'm rocketing down a nice curvy road, I love my M6. However I was just in Ocean City this past weekend for the big cruise, and I got to drive my brother's '69 with a race built TH350, and I found myself wishing I had an auto...they rule for cruisin and quick straight line runs. I'd just build the auto you have, and remind yourself how nice it is to not have to turn your left leg into rubber on the commute home from work.

yeah i love my M6. i've driven a few stalled A4s and they are quicker off the line then i am but from a roll it's game over against my geared M6. The 6 speed is one thing that was a
must when i bought my Z but i wouldn't sell one for the other. i'd do a conversion or live with it first

Get an M6! Not only are they much funner to drive, but when you get those sweet times at the track, or beat some respected car on the road; you can say YOU did it, and not your transmission.

He doesn't go to the track every weekend, if he did, then that would be something he needs to look into as well. I go to the track about once a month on my m6, and have not had a problem yet (knock on wood).

My old 94 z28was auto and it drove me nuts how it would sometimes just not shift right when id want it to.. or it would surprise me Or under hard acceleration sometimes it would lazily shift.

Thus when I got the new car, m6 all the way. Now when i miss-shift or screw up, I know its me and not the car

get what you want..if you want an M6, get an M6...otherwise, every time you go to your car and sit in it, you're gonna have that "I wish i had a manual" moment, and that's more of a hassle/buzzkill than selling your current car and getting a manual.

had both, chose the 6 speed.

just figure what you want to do with the car first. A clear set of goals helps the decision making process.

And when you get those shitty times at the track because you screwed up your launch, or lose to some respected car on the road because you missed a shift, you can say that YOU lost, and not your transmission.
