The mecham has the same motor as a regular fbody. The change the suspension, spoiler, hood, and remove the rear seats to put in a cross bar in its place. The hood and spoiler tend to stress fracture easily/with time.

Mine is a 98 and the only cracking it has is from the past owner not closing the hood properly and cracked it with his palm. The hoods are extremely light weight, I would say a little heavier than your average pin on hood. The newer design is heavier constructed and far improved over the original design.
I think to many compare the hoods to the SMC hoods on the WS6, SS ect. There is no comparison between any fiberglass hood and one made from SMC. Especially when your talking light weight fiberglass.
Mecham does still do the conversions in various stages, you would have to email them to get a quote... www.mechamperformance.com
Mecham was far more than an appearance enhancement,You could have gotton a 396 stroker engine in 2000, I think it was the #1 2000 car with the 396 option that was rated at 440 Rwhp in the 2000 CHP article. Also, anything from 13" Brembo brakes, Koni struts, 6 point roll bar, carbon fiber drive shaft, the option list was through the roof. The base package used Hotchkis springs with a lowered ride hight and increased spring rate along with poly bushings, it would easily out handle any other F body you could buy at the time.
This is the standard Mecham TA package.
• Pro Dyno MTTP Exhaust System
• Mecham Cast Aluminum 7.5 inch Exhaust Tips
• Mecham Designs Hood-4 port extractor
• K&N Filtercharger Air Filter
• Mecham Designs Rear Wing
• Pro Performance Springs- front and rear

• Rear End Gears- 3.42 (A4) 3.73 (6-spd)
• Energy Susp Sway Bar Bushings-front
• Energy Susp Sway Bar Bushings-rear
• Controls Optimization
• B&M Ripper Shifter- 6spd
• Graphics Package with series number
• Dash Plaque w/Production #4
