The new tires are wider then stock, went from 235/45/r16's to 275/35/R18's, not much softer as far as I can tell. I have ASR and if engaged it will push back on the throttle like stated but even with it off I can't even lay 5ft of rubber. I assume my stock gearing is 2.73's maybe I need to check the rpo codes or was it even available with 3.23's? I will try cleaning up the maf tomorrow, and see about getting the fuel fitler changed at the next service. How does a guy go about cleaning the MAF? q tip and rubbing alcohol?

RPO GU2 = 2.73

But even with 2.73s and 275 rubber, I can still get the tires to spin from a dead stop.

Yeah, my window sticker, which I found after purchasing the car, in the manual case, reads that I have the performance axle. My current tires are much, much softer than the previous ones, the previous ones would cause ASR to slam my leg into the steering column, they had no grip whatsoever. The ZRis are nice and grippy.

To clean the MAF pick up some MAF cleaner from any parts store. Then just take the maf housing off and squirt the wires and screen real good from all directions and let it air dry. No need to touch the screen or wires with anything. Those wires are very delicate and new ones aren't cheap. Pretty simple to do, just take your time and use a little caution around those wires.
Others use q-tips and other types of cleaners. If you don't want to pay the 5 dollars for the cleaner you can try a search and see what others have had success with.

I'd be glad if I couldn't burn out when i take off from a dead stop. It feels "strange" because you aren't starting in your powerband and it has to work its way up the rpm range to make the power...i'm sure that's all there is to it.

I think the change in performace that you noticed is that. ^^^ That is a lot more mass to try to turn than the stockers.

Spray it good. Twice. Let it dry. No touchee!
I sure don't have any problem spinning out of the hole. I have to come out like an old Gramma if I want the tires to last. They're stock size - 245's.

So i was havin the same problem as you... well i think the best thing to solve this is more mods. I just added the f.t.r.a system to my 99 z28, and cleaned the maf an the car is a damn beast. I first did the maf sensor, and it was a complete difference after that, but then i put the ftra on, and that car pulls hard. I can smoke the tires with nor problem. The car is a beast... Mod more, and youll smoke the tire...

Cleaned up the MAF today and got a bark outa the tires afterwards, so musta helped some, time to start saving up for some mods though, cam, headers, ect..

yeah my M6 in my LT1 won't roast 'em unless i let the clutch out real fast. even if i launch it likes to hook with my 275/17's if i let the clutch out at anything over 1,900 RPM's it'll smoke 'em up but when i hit 2nd they just hook and go. Bark 'em and gone

Seafoam the hell out of it. And as stated ^^^^^^^ figure out what that tire size does to the overall ratio. I'll bet it's more than you think. Also (just curious) what tire pressure do you have? My Kumhos rate at 55psi in the rear, if I go down to 35 (where a lot of people think a tire should be) it makes a huge difference.
