The Firebird is a V6, the Formula is the same as the V6 but with the V8 engine. The Trans am is the "loaded" car with all the options and a different nose. The WS6 option adds the new "ram air" hood and some other small items. You can get the WS6 package with "ram air" on the Formula or the Trans Am.

most of our titles do say Formula, as all Trans Ams started life as a Formula.

-take a look at your door rpo sticker, 'WS9' is the Formula conversion Pkg, which means the car has a V8,
-this will be followed by 'Y82' which is the Trans Am merchandise package, effectively making the car a Trans Am, but still carrying the Formula moniker
-if your car had 'W66' INSTEAD of 'Y82' then the car would have the Formula merchandise package and be a Formula.
the Vin does not distinguish between Formula and Trans Am. and all DMV/insurance paperwork is based off the Vin. This is why your title reads Formula or Formula/Trans am.

Formula WS6/Firehawks are rare as hell and super bad ***. They are stripper versions of the trans ams. I just got one and looked for one for a long time. They were only made through 2000.

Trans Am WS6s are riced out versions of Formula WS6s. 😀

Let the flaming begin.

PS

I love TAs and have owned a few!

They are rare, and all the great options started a year later than my 95, mid 96 ish

Default What am I dealing with here

1996 trans am ws6. As far as a formula or not I’m confused. As in all are formulas with the ws6 then turns to a TA. Sorry a little lost. I’ve always wanted one of these and found this white one. It is a trans am as far as emblems , wheels are ws6 and ram air v8 car.
