I could not agree with this any more. I can afford a C6 car payment with less than a weeks pay. I chose the SS because I have always loved the 98-02 SS and C5's are a dime a dozen and c6's are becoming that way as well. Not to mention why have a near stock vette when I will soon have a 450rwhp SS with a wicked suspension setup to boot that will bury any vette i come across. I dont care if some ***** looks down at me in his vette. When I bury his dick in the dirt and his wife/gf does nothing but smile after, its priceless. I might buy a 05 C6 next year when the SS is paid off, but I will never part with it. I dont envy Corvette drivers, I usually laugh at them as they scoff at me. 99% of them cant drive their cars anyway. Everytime I look at used vettes they are all A4's too. What kind of man buys a sports/muscle car and gets a slushbox to boot. Just kidding any of my A4 buddies

BTW I am 30 yrs old. bought my car at 28. I sold the STI 6 months after I bought it new for the sole reason I felt like I was driving a kids car. Since when are muscle cars for kids. I could always say Corvettes are for guys with 3 inch ***** trying to attract younger women or women in general with a car trying to make up for something they lack. I also bought the GSX new for 28k at 21 yrs old. Affording a vette is not an issue but taking on a huge car payment to impress others is retarded to me. As I said in another post, I had a $545 car payment and $300 insurance payment on the STI at 26. Im pretty sure 4 yrs later I can afford a 45k car as the STI was 33k when I bought it new. To me its all about dollars and "sense". (pun intended)

I love the look in their face when my "kids car" starts to become a tiny spot in their 100,000 luxury pig car windshield!! LOL!! I dont care for a social status or Im suppose to be driving...**** that. Give me a real men car, loud, rough and damn fast....bitch!! LOL!

lol i reread it and it actually made me sad thinking about what it would be like losing my f-body. i honestly don't know what i'd do. it's the most valuable possession in he world to me. it's a rare thing to never hate driving, especially in today's world of stop-and-go and rush-rush-rush. there's very few "open roads" anymore where you can take a sunday drive and just relax. whether i'm on one of the few open roads left or whether i'm jammed at rush hour, time spent with my car is time well spent.

Truth is I often think about getting another LS1 car to daily drive just for this very reason.

Myself and the previous owner have worked too hard to keep my Camaro in show quality condition over the last 9 years to throw all that away now. But I could see myself getting a higher mileage one to drive all the time. 70 miles a day round trip on the highway sure does take a toll on the paint & glass.

IMHO there are a fair number of younger F-body owners. Quite a few young 3rd gen owners. However, I don't think they're kid's cars by any means. Especially the 4th gens. Although the younger prospective owner(s) may be able to afford them, doesn't mean they should have them. The F-bod as with any high performance car capable of significant acceleration, triple digit terminal velocities and the ability to drive down the road sideways takes an adult mentality to enjoy it responsibly. I don't say that as a way to start the old, "a young kid will automatically wrap an F-car around a tree" argument. I'm just saying that the majority of the owners I've met know that there's a time and place for everything. To put it in perspective I know ricers and 4th gen owners that are about 19-20 years of age. The F-bod owner typically seems more mature and responsible. The ricer will zip down the highway in heavy traffic at 100mph driving on the shoulder, whipping in and out of traffic, racing through housing areas, etc. Most of the F-bod guys I know personally and from what I've read on here take it to the track or are at least a little selective as to when/where they'll screw around in public. I.E. a back road with no homes/cars on it, an empty parking lot etc.

While most of these cars are owned by younger guys, myself included (23), what I can say is who cares. Get the car you want and drive it. Don't get something because it fits into an age group thing or run from it because of said classification. As for me I hope to be driving my Trans Am for quite sometime. Heck, my dad still has his 70 AMX he bought new at age 21 and he never regrets it.

I B Fiddy. That's 50 years old for those who need a translation. There are very few really fine F-bodies in my area. But lots of Corvettes driven by people who don't seem to care that much about cars. Vettes are really nice cars, but when I buy my next car I think it will be anther WS6. Just to preserve the line. I will not ever sell the one I've got. Wish I could put it in storage and get a Corvette for the daily driver.

yeah sure, there are a lot of kids running around with f-bodies, usually LT1s. but just because high school kids find them to be an easy "go-fast" car doesnt mean it belongs to them. the only reason vettes are thought of as an older person car is because those are the only ones that can cough up the candy to get in the driver's seat.

im 19 and i have a 95 z28. i have headers, no cat, and SLP LM2. so i has a real oldschool type sound to it. every time i take it out to go cruising at least one older guy gives me the thumbs up or compliments me at the red light. hell, the other day i had my cutout open and some 55+ year old guy was hanging out the back window of an escalade shaking his thumb in the air at me. i swear to god he looked like a big kid. big *** smile on his face and everything.

so, like everyone has been saying. these cars are for the young at heart. these cars are for the ones that understand true heritage. f-bodys are made to do work. they're made to go fast and take a beating. the corvette, to me, is like the spoiled little sister. always in the spotlight, always getting the attention, and always worried about "breaking a nail" too prissy for me. i think ill stick with my "kid" car.

besides...i kinda like running around with my shoes laces tied together. (solid rear)

i agree with LMz28 on a lot of things. i think the corvette is a car that is more suited to be stock. the vast majority of corvettes i see don't even have exhaust. i see many, many corvettes every time i hit the road and i almost NEVER hear them make a peep. an f-body has to be 100 times more likely to be modded. i'm serious. a corvette is a great quiet car, but it's a poor car to build a brotherhood around. an f-body is a car for a man with a boy's heart. plain and simple.

Not always true. Some of us "younger guys" (20s-30s) can easily afford the Vette (even a new one) but we choose not too, for one reason or another.

M6....., not for me. I'm all about the auto, for daily driving or weekend driving. The A4 is ok, but an A6 with 4.10s would be great.

If they honestly mean they are for kids, they have an inferiority complex of some sort. I say you race a few of them and do a survey after, hahaha!! Bet their tune will change. My pop's (44) loves my car too.

Well when I was a little kid my black TA was my dream car. After I have it I don't want to ever sell it. I could get a new Z06 but I would actually rather have my TA and enjoy some of the other things in life.

Agreed, went to a carshow last saturday, my friend and I were only guys under thirty with muscle cars (he has a '99 cobra). Everyone else had imports, or in one case a 2000 z24 with dragons all over the body/back window. Did meet an older fella with an '01 WS6 that does 10's @ the quarter mile, nice guy, really knows his ls1's.

oh, i'm all about an auto, too. i'd never want to daily drive an M6 through work traffic or at night when i'm tired. however, i used to offroad for years. i would NEVER drive anything but a manual quad. i used to love my little 6 speed blaster every now and again, i wish to row through the gears. it's a rare event, but some days i just want to do nothing but drive, and i think i'd have a lot of fun with an M6. but i'll never get rid of my auto.

on a side note, you're 28? lol i always thought you were like 40 - but in a good way. you've always seemed to clean and presentable. you just don't come off as a young kid like me. i think it's fairly obvious i'm a young guy

Lots of good points made by all here. One thing I would echo is that many F-body owners could have afforded a Corvette if they really wanted to, but the F-body has a special appeal. Me, I couldn't afford an LS1 vette, but I certainly could have gotten a nice LT1 model. But the F-body i the car I really love. Not that I don't like Corvettes of course, or most performance cars for that matter. But I can remember wanting a Firebird when I was about 5 years old. And that little itch never really went away. The first time I actually drove one, I knew it was just a matter of time. I remember that test drive just as vividly as I do losing my virginity. No joke!

A lot of people mentioned the vette being an older guy's car. Obviously this is true to some extent just because of the price. But some of these owners might surprise you. I met a guy at cruise night the other night with a C6 ZO6. Turns out he also has a C5 ZO6, a C4, an '86 Monte Carlo SS, and maybe a few I'm forgetting, as well as other toys. Probably in his fifties or so I would guess. We talked about cars and other stuff for a good long while, and when I showed him my car he had nothing but compliments for it. He fit the stereotype people have for vette owners, and yet was a really cool, down to earth guy who just loved cars.

And as Choco mentioned, it is nice to be part of a community, a brotherhood of sorts. I'll always wave or otherwise acknowledge another F-body on the road, and usually get something back. One guy in an LT1 Z28 gave me a nice loud rev the other day. It's all part of the fun of owning this car.
