You must be driving an 02'? 16k in TRADE is good.

As much as I think GTO's are pretty cool and the new Camaro will probably be pretty nice, I'm gonna vote for neither.

Honestly with insurance being cheaper with a corvette and all the options out there....

I'd say go check out some vettes. You mentioned a C5, You could probably find an awesome deal on a late model corvette. Or wait for c6's to come down in price to match a new GTO in a couple years and you'll have the camaro as a real option. There's nothing wrong with your ws6. My .02.

You're already in upside down (-$1000 if you take the trade). You'll only be deeper in if you take another 6 year loan, even if you get decent rates. That GTO will almost certainly be worth less than you owe on it two years down the road, and by a wider margin than your looking at now. Keep paying on your t/a and then trade it in when the 09 comes out, or sell now private sale and you'll probably break even or turn a small profit. Either way, pass on the goat. That car underwhelms in every conceivable way, imho.

Hold on to the TA. Pay your bills. Wait till 09 and go from there. I really need to see the production camaro in person.

Probably not. In fact the later models will probably be collectors eventually if the Bird never comes back. The re-sale will just drop like normal for now.

Most of the later model WS6's have lots of bolt-ons (and possibly more) and have been heavily modified from stock. I don't think prices will increase on such cars. Sure a stock WS6 may bring a few thousand more than the current retail about 10+ years down the line, but try finding a pristine condition, all stock equipment, low mileage, WS6 then.

Not the same model, but my 02 Z vert really hasn't dropped in value much after three years and 40k miles according to kbb.com

I wonder, I'm no expert...some people will know the answer to this...But isn't, for example, an old chevelle cleanly modified to be much better than stock, and clean, going to still be worth a high price even though it's modified? I'm thinking it's condition, not original numbers only, that dictates a selling price. It seems to me I've seen highly modified old cars still go for ridiculous amounts of money on ebay because they are modified to much better than stock. Any comments?

I always thought modifying a collector's car from factory original equipment brought down value

It does but the cars are still worth a bunch. In about 15 years who knows whats going to happen. I was just saying that the WS6's will hold their value more than the Camaro with the Camaro coming out again.

I think how it would work basically is, you probably lose a lot value for losing the 100% original status, but can gain a lot of value back by making a badass upgraded version of still the original old classic car.

Had a Goat, was nice, Camaro from the shows is much nicer.

Goat, tiny windows. If you are tall you hit your head at atms and drive throughs getting/giving money and food.

gto = what is that?
camaro 09 = everyone will know its a camaro.

We loved the GTO, but the Camaro is just sweeeeeeet and no roof .

It depends, some guys that bought Goats recently got the 0% for 60/mo which you can't beat. I don't think you mentioned whether you have driven a GTO yet? I'm on my second GTO(an '06) but when a couple people asked me whether they should get one I told them only a test drive would tell. It is more bland looking than the TA or any vette so looks aren't going to be the deal breaker. It will be the quality of the interior and the difference in ride from anything you may have driven that will either grab you or it won't.
