Great oil that is readily available at an auto parts store?

For the rotella they only to my knowledge make one synthetic oil and it is in a blue container. I think it is 5W40.

yea i went to auto zone and advanced tryin to find the german 0w30 but all they had was the US stuff. nothing made in germany. sigh. i was using RP, i've never had a problem but my motor still "uses" some of hte oil, i am going to try and switch it up to the german castrol from ws6 store and see if the oil consumption stops. FWIW i pay about 40 bucks for the RP ne ways every oil change.

another important thing to note is that you can buy GC at BMW dealerships. you can get GC 5W-30, GC 10W-30, etc. a lot of people don't know that. now, they're not as good as GC 0W-30. GC 0W-30 is the best you can get. however, GC 5W-30 is much better than the USA syntec line. in germany, it is ILLEGAL to classify a group 3 as a full synthetic. ALL "made in germany" synthetics, regardless of brand, are at least group 4 synthetics. they are required by law to be so.
if you can't find GC in your area, try a local BMW dealership. ANY GC, regardless of weight, is better than anything mobil 1 or the USA syntec line has to offer in a comparable weight.

Yeah, if you call any of the sponsors, and ask about this "GC" bullshit, they'll just laugh and tell you to change your oil often and keep it full. Choco Taco get's a little hyped up about it. Kinda like a kid who's eaten too much sugar.
Call a sponsor in your area and ask.

or just google "mobil 1 group 3".
you calling bs on it is you believing in a lie. mobil 1 is NOT a full synthetic anymore, at least the 30 weights i know for a fact.

That's as good as I can do right there. It's kinda vague but leans in the Group IV/PAO direction.

If that comes back fine then i'll run it upto the 7500 mi mark myself. Either way, how can you go wrong for $2.98/qt. full synth. Obviously if you're constantly running/racing your car hard or live in a really hot climate, you may want to keep your oci's at 5k or under. I'll definately post my results as soon as I get 'em done.

Well I've been using mobil 1 5w-30 for quite a while now. I went by Autozone and picked up some of the German Castrol 0w-30 and added that in when I changed my oil today. I guess I'll see how it does.
