If you are getting 20something miles to the gallon city driving, then you are not actually driving in a city.......

My car is a 2000 m6 ss and has lt headers and dual exhaust, lid and cold air kit...plus a dyno tune.Since I got my headers and duals on plus the tune... if i drive my car all city i been only getting a little over 15 mpg. Before those mods i was gettin about 19 or 20 in city but i have been hitting on it a little more with the new exhaust. In my town you never get over 40 mph and there is lots of stop and go.

I would like to know what is wrong with my car as well then, because I get about 10 miles to the gallon shifting at 3K, and about 12-13 miles to the gallon shifting at 2200 rpms. This is pure city driving in which I only have 3 miles to go and have to stop at least 8 or 9 times. I shifted like a granny on this last tank of gas and still only got 185 miles out of the tank (no highway driving). Is that normal?

No, I drive an a4 and 18 is my worst mileage ever. I usually get about 22 all around driving and 27 if i drive like a grandma on the highway. I let off the gas at about 1500 RPMS and let the auto shift early. Maybe you should try shifting sooner.

I change my oil every 2500 miles, I seafoamed it about 5,000 miles ago and I changed the fuel filter about 1,000 miles ago. My highway mileage is just fine, about 25 mpg. City is pretty bad though. I am untuned with lt's, ory, catback, lid, p&p tb, but I dont think it has suffered that much from when it is stock.

How much sooner than 2200 rpms can I shift without bogging the motor down.....

Note-Most of the time, I dont even use 2nd and 4th gear. it is 1st-3rd-5th-6th

Well I don't have an m6, but trying 1500 rmps won't bother it at all. Just try it out. The ls1 has enough torque to be able to shift sooner. Of course shifting at that point, you are kind of putting around if you know what i mean. Of course I'm on base going slow and don't want to attract attention, that's why i do it. So just see what she can handle without out boggin. If you can't get good gas mileage doing this all the time while driving around town then you have an issue somewhere. I was racing all night and driving around town and I got 18mpg in my a4 and m6's are supposed to get much better gas mileage.

Forgot to add that i too have LT's, ORY, and catback untuned...so i still do well, but i think that could still cause you an issue.

I drive 1.5 miles each way to work and have as many as 15 traffic signals. I get about 11 mpg doing this and about 25 on the highway. I just found my DFCO was not enabled so I hope to gain some milage there.

D deceleration F fuel C cut O off. While coasting in gear or while decelerating fuel is cut to the min injector pulse and timing is pulled to almost none

Current mods on sig...I get about 14-16 city (18 when i drive like granny and use the skip shift and shift @ 1500 rpms after 4th gear) and about 23-26 hwy.. i usually end up about 240 on a full tank. My car needs a couple of quick fixes right now. But lately its been around 270 and thats with running rich. 325 at my best when i didn't have my SES light on. If i wasn't going 80-90 the whole trip, i probably would have cleared 350-360 on a full tank. I imagine that it will be tons better once i get a lid and headers for better flow..

i was under the impression that when car manufacturers test engines for mpg, its not bolted on the car.. so when they give numbers, the car weight and exhaust piping and whatnot isn't considered.
