bought a junkyard rear end

Default bought a junkyard rear end

is there any way of knowing wut gears the rear end would have. it has a numbr 2 ingraved on it, and has the numer 2-60414. does tht mean its a 2 series carrier with 2.73? i hope not, cuz i have 2.73's already and hate them

open the cover and count the ring and pinion teeth and divide the smaller number(pinion) into the larger number (ring gear).

or you can spin the yoke on the pinion and count how many axle rotations come from 1 full turn.

how many turns would be 2.73, and how many would be 3.23? and the number 2 on the rear end has nothing to do of it being a 2.73 gear?

the numbers casted onto the housing is just a part number.

i think its 3.23 turns of the axles to 1 turn of the drive shaft or the other way around (3.23 turns of the DS is 1 turn of the axles.

same goes for 2.73, just 2.73 turns of either parts.
