Not really a stupid question, wasn't sure to post this. I had 16s that came stock on the car and then upgraded to 17inch ss wheels 275/40/17. Still can't spin them unless its really cold out and the pavement is cold. I just find it odd.

my car is the same way, w/o traction control it will not spin them in first when I stomp it and will just chirp second (sumitomo htr??? 275/40/17)
the only way they will spin is if i pop the clutch

I have boltons and i rarely have traction problems in 1st. I can punch it in 1st at 4K rpms and i dont break loose. I think my speaker system helps with that though. But when i shift to 2nd i spin for about 10-15 feet sometimes.

I can only spin my tires in reverse
my 97 SS with the 6 speed will easily break the rear loose up to 35mph in 1st, 2nd chirps hard but keeps control.
I've got 285 michilin's. and it would do the same with my 335 V700's until they heated up.
my 96 SS has 245s on it, and it chirps 2nd all day long, but doesnt really fry the tires in 1st unless im at a complete stop and launch it. its an A4 completely stock Convertible w/ K&N filter.

haha stock i could break loose in 1 and 2nd with out poping the clutch, just flooring it. now on regular nittos, 1 at any point you get close to flooring it they are spinning, 2nd, same, and 3rd you can keep them hooked untill about 3200 and they break loose. 4th if i hit a kinda wet spot in the right rpm. but i just runa mT drag radial now and on dry second will hook up the whole time, first its a 50-50 guess if you get them to bit they will hold if they spinn have to start feathering the gas if you want it to hook,
