How much quicker is an ls2 vette compared to Z28
#21
My bad guys....I meant there is a difference, and most of have covered the handling and aerodynamic advantage. But its not like his Z is a 2.0 V-TAK and the C6 has the Ls2...they are within the same "V8 sports car" category, with the 'Vette being more track-oriented.

I agree with those that say it'll feel a tad faster. It's not like he's going to a Z06 from a stock F-body. My old 98 M6 Z with bolt-ons ran door to door with an 05 Vette through 2nd and 3rd gears. There is not going to be a huge difference, probably 20-30 rwhp.

I dont think the vette will be that much faster. His z28 has almost the same power as c6. It will be faster because of weight but i highly doubt it will feel like putting a h/c package on his z28. Come on now be real!
If its not too much debt i would get the vette

If its gona be like 60-70% of your monthly income to afford the vette don't do it. Since your car is an A4, put a 125 shot with supporting mods and you will smoke C6's.
If you want to drive around in the mountains and race around twisties the vette is sweet, but for drag racing, why bother wasting that much $$ when you could put like 3-4 grand more into your Z28 and be goin 12.20s - 12.0's.

I am a GM tech, and i am exposed to both every day. My car is modified, and i wont hesitate to say the Vette will outrun me. Between certain speeds, with certain exceptions, i can give one a run for the money. But in a general statement, ill lose by a decent bit. (Y-Body traction VS F-Body traction, all hands down the Y-Body's got it) (I AM COMPARING STOCK TO STOCK) The C6 is an amazing car in all aspects, and if you have the opportunity GO FOR IT. Hell, if i had the cash to do it, i DAMN sure would jump all over one.

both cars have roughly the same horsepower. the vette may have another 10 horsepower or so. it's a little lighter, only a few hundred pounds. imagine adding 30 horsepower to your f-body. that's about what it'll feel like. it's not going to feel A LOT faster. it'll be faster for sure, but it's a completely different driving experience. a vette and an f-body can be the exact same speed, but i bet it'll feel faster than the f-body even though it really isn't. it's just a more refined driving experience.

Let me add this though, I am in an M6 so traction is a larger issue for me. Lets clear that up before it starts, and also... On the bottle, I WIN! haha lets get back on topic though...

It all depends on what you want. I wouldn't trade my Z28 for anything, but I like having a bit more passenger room (lol who fits in the back of an Fbody anyway) but primarily with the mods I'm going to have in my Z28 when it's running again will put me in the low 12s easily, if not faster.
The mods will be: 02 short-block, notched pistons, 02 heads, Comp 228/230 cam, Pacesetter LTs, true duals off an H pipe. That's just me though, I like my Z28, but I like the C6 too. Whichever one you want is the one you should get.

i went from a '96 Z28, M6 with 3.73's, UMI Suspension, Moroso Intake with trickflow elbow and AF, madz28 tune, Longtubes, Magnaflow catback, 3" cutout, LS1 DS, Underdrives. Anyway i've done Accel test's on that car and my '98 C5 and the Vette beats my Z28 by 1.3 seconds to 60 mph and 2.9 seconds to 100 mph At the track the Vette does the 1/4 in 12.9. The Camaro FELT faster to 60 but wasn't even close but when going 55-110 the Vette just WALKS away. In 4th Gear the race would be WELL over. I've been able to take out lid, exhaust LS1 Fbody cars with my Z28 with my mods i had. I'd imagine the LS2 Vette would be able to take my Vette or at least be a close race. The upgrade is all in the Name, Appearance,Ride, and Quality of the Vette. They are just a HUGE upgrade. I couldn't believe how much more i love driving the Vette then the Z. It's just the way it is and how GM intended it to be

Since this is about your driving experience, why don't you just test drive one and decide for yourself. You will know immediately if its for you. Besides, its better than listening to the vette vs. f-body pissing contest for the millionth time.

stop making **** up, from your opinion it is obvious you have never even been for a ride in a new vette......anyone in this thread who has never driven or at least been in the passenger seat in a new LS2 vette needs to ......how can so many of you say "its a tad faster" when you have never even been in one? To the OP.....the vette will feel so much faster......I have a 6 speed 2002 Z28 with the mods you see in my sig and my buddy has a 2005 A4 corvette with just a vararam and his car's acceleration is sick.....my car doesnt even compare, go test drive one and you will see what I mean, just find a straight away, stop and floor it and the car will put you in the seat

^ they are sexy I was at a local auction about 2 weeks ago and they had a LS2 Vette. Since i happened to have driven my Vette there they let me take if for a spin. My car dyno'd 364hp/360tq. The LS2 Vette felt slightly faster then my modded LS1 Vette but it is better built then even my '98. It just has a better feel AND is slightly smaller. I LOVE the LS2 Vette's but could only afford the C5 for now. Which is fine with me when coming from an LT1 Camaro
