Normal for car to be unbarable without AC on?

I do agree that t-tops make the car much hotter.
I live in the south and it gets hot. I still never used the A/C though. Don't ask me why, I just never do... regardless. I must just have a high tolerance against all types of weather.
When I was 15 my first car was a 1993 Camaro Z28. Started driving the car when I turned 16. The cars A/C did not work at all, nor did the heater. Never cared enough to get it check out at the time. Come to find out, the heater core was clogged and the A/C just needed recharging. Even after it was fixed I still never used it because I was used to not having it.
The car was a black hardtop with cloth interior. I would just tough it out and you eventually get used to it. One time I remember above them all is when I used to mow grass at a local factory. It was around 100 degrees and humid. I worked all day and left my windows up. After I finished the job, I jumped in the car and it was seriously so f'n hot. But I made it
Winters were nearly as bad as the summers though. I did all this for about 4 or 5 years while the car was my only means of transportation.
Now my red car.... either my tolerances are lower now, or the t-tops make that much difference in the heat. I know when I jump in the thing its really hot.
I guess it all boils down to how much you can take. But ... yeah, fbodies are hot!!

I still have not used A/C in either of my cars. However, I agree it does get mighty hot in the Camaro with t-tops and charcoal leather. When i get out with a gray t-shirt on, it's usually pretty damp lookin' and I got a bad case of "swamp ***".
Pretty gross I know. But that only happens in slow traffic during 4-5pm. Otherwise I drive only at night.

i live in upstate NY and if its even remotely warm out its either ttops off and windows down, or a/c on full blast. i couldnt imagine driving my car in the south, or out in the southwest...

Black leather + Ttops + Arizona heat here. My alternator died Tuesday and I chanced it and drove the car home on battery. It was a 30 minute drive. The AC quit. The windows wouldn't roll down, and it was about 107 outside. No fan, no ACS, and no breeze translated into an interior temp of probably close to 140 degrees for those 30 minutes....in a long sleeve shirt and work pants. I was drenched when I got to the parts store where the car finally died.

you can go windows down during the day but u better be prepared for swamp ***, swamp back, swamp leg, swamp arm, swamp gooch. its all good tho because its fun to wipe it on the girlfriend

Definitely agree on the heat issue on cars equipped with t-tops and black leather interior on days that get really hot. I use shades for the windshield, and the tops. Also parking the car in an area that is shaded also helps out.
Last week the temps were in the mid to high 90's with the humidity and it was the 1st time this year that I had the AC on. Normally I drive with the windows down during the day, and before dusk (and at night) the tops come off.
