It really depends on how much you ask and if you're lucky enough to find someone willing to pay (if you're asking high).
I, personally, wouldnt pay more than $500 for a used short block....unless I knew it was good enough to not have to re-ring and put new bearings and all the other good stuff....and it would need all the covers too.

short block...by short block you mean just the block with the crank, pistons...ect in it? If its jsut that..maybe 500-1000 for somebody who is deperate that needs a new motor. If you selling the whole motor...heads..intake..ect. Maybe 2-3k.

If I was looking for a stock short block and came across this. I would wonder why the block was removed(considering most shops charge a core fee for the block..so why wasn't that one used if the person was building the motor)

Thanks!!

There is nothing wrong with the motor at all. It has been sprayed with a 100 shot on a real good tune for about 2 years on and off. the motor does not smoke or anything at all and has good oil psi. The only reason it is coming out at all is because I bought an all forged 383 short block from a friend that is now going with a 450+ ci LSX motor.
