WTF should i do im confused cutout Q.
hey guys i am looking into cutouts right now because i have a chokemaster on the exhust, i was originally very very interested in the mr. gasket cutout with the cable pull to activate it, but those only come in 2" in size, i can still make it work but i would rather get the right size, my original idea for cutout installation was directly after the y pipe but let me know if thats wrong, i am looking for a cutout that is cheep and easy to access at any time, what do you guys recommend i do and also anybody know what is the stock size of the piping after the y pipe looks like 2 3/4 to me please guys help me out thanks 4 everything

Yeah I have one mounted right before the mufflers its the manual one and myne is open 100percent of the time. Its not to loud. the only thing that sucks is on the highway it gives off alot of drone in the car. I raced a vette on the highway not to long ago it was a C5 and i watched him roll up next to me and then slow down and at this point my car was real quite and his was at a dead silence I heard nothing. As soon as he put his foot into it it sounded almost like open headers and he flew past me obviously I never got a chance to talk to him he had an A4 I know that much. What ever exhaust I know was very silent until he went WOT It was an awesome sound
sorry for maybe hijacking but thats the route I want to take and try to find out similar set ups

don't know about that, I get compliments daily from old /new school muscle heads on the sound of my car and the more you add the better it will sound. Not to mention there is no catback out there besides true duals that will flow better.

that's unnecassry at this point, it would just cost more money. i'm assuming the OP is running stock manifolds / cats. just put a cutout at the end of the "i" there is a nice spot for it, it will sound good.
I havea cutout there my LT's and ORY, and at idle, and lowing crusing speeds it sounds good, nothing like the local UPS truck. Ne ways I seen a magazine article that raced the UPS , FedEx, and DHL trucks, and the UPS came in last. DHL was all over that. When my car gets up to about 2500 rpms the cutout starts to sound a little ruff, then at WOT it sounds just scary.
i have an electronic cutout, and it sure as hell beats having to crawl under my car everytime i wanna change the cutout. worth every penny so far.

not sure exactly, but from reading some of Patrick G 's threads i believe they showed no gain with an open cutout over a decent catback until they were making over 400 rwhp.
