A buddy of mine just bought an 01 Z28, 5k miles original in Indiana for $15.5k 3 mounths ago. My 01 formula with 40k miles I paid $11k. sounds like 13 to 14k is most likely your target price. JMO

Good luck. I tried to sell a 2000 Z28 with 16,000 miles and a fresh 383/full suspension for $17K on a bunch of forums and got offers from $9-11K. Don't waste your time with anything other than FleaBay, CraigsList and AutoTrader...

While you might get a taker or two at each price stop on the way down, you'll have a lot of people waiting to see where you bottom out.
Price right first, and you'll have enough serious people calling. Just beware of the scammers. They were 80%+ of the respondants for me.

I bought my car, (a 99 Z28) 3 years ago and it had 17k miles on it. It was stock and a clean car inside and out. I gave 13.5k for it. Fast forward 3 years and your car has the same mileage, and is just as old as my car was. And I bought my car in Indiana. So I'd ask around 14k.
Also being that winter is just around the corner, sports cars are not going to bring top dollar around here. Sell the same car in the spring when the weather is getting nice and find someone that is itching to buy a nice car and you might have better luck getting what you want out of it.

Maybe $12k sounds low, but you wont get much more for it. When I bought the one I have now, I looked at dozens of cars with similar miles and options like yours and they ranged anywhere from $11500 to $15000. After looking at all of them I came to the conclusion that the higher mile ones suited my plans better(mod the **** out of it), so I bought the one I have.

Actually there is no reason to sell it I just figured I would give it a shot.
People can stay and wait for a bottom but its there now. It will be going in to a garage in a few weeks under a cover then it doesnt come out till march or april.
Thanks for everyones replys really. None of this offended me at all. Well I guess we'll see what happens when the 09's come out.

Thats good to hear. The reason prices are so low right now is because people are not sticking to their guns. If everyone had that attitude, then there would not be so many for sale and the prices would rise. Or at least not drop anymore.

supply and demand all it is. our cars are not rare and colectable yet and might not be ever be.The real old muscle cars days are over like the old school 67-69 camaro, chevelles ,etc even though we love the newer ones they wont be rare and hard to find like those are.

Where are you in indiana? There arent very many maroon z28s around BTW i bought my 2000 z28 same as yours, i think, i have leather, traction control, ect. for $10,500. It only had 40,000 miles. My friend got a 04 gto in barbados blue in indy for $17,000 with 6k miles. You wont get that price in indy for that car. Good luck

It's all about what someone will pay. I gave 19.5k about a month ago for my SS and it only had 10k miles on it. The car was exactly what I was looking for so I bought it. Did I pay too much? Some would say yes others would say no. I don't think I did. They are hard to find in Iowa with low low miles though.

Ive seen alot of people getting rid of these due to the new Camaro comming out. These cars are demandless, unless the price is low. No offense but you prolly cant sell your car because..........
-its maroon
-high price
-location
-wrong time of year to sell
-not a SS
-about to be 7 years old
-NADA Trade In is 12,600 & Retails for 14700!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (KBB may be a little higher)

The thing is, most people who are looking at buying a high dollar f-body usually want an SS, WS6, Hawk....you have to remember that every buyer is not as performance savvy or knowledgeable as the guys on here are. At first glance, 80% of people would pass your car off as a V6--brutal yes, but that does hurt your selling point. You have a super clean car, which does help as these cars are aging and getting more beat up as we speak.
Also, you have picked the wrong season (it helps....trust me). Winter is just coming around, people are storing their cars and hunkering down in their DDs and homes. Wait until the end of winter....the first weeks of spring where everyone has spring fever. People will be looking for performance cars and will usually pay more for a nice car to have for them to enjoy over summer. What fun is it to buy a car then have to put it away?
Just my $.02, good luck with your sale.

I know it's not the point you are trying to make, but people always make it seem like there weren't many 1st and early second gen Camaros made. They made tons of them. As time went by they became rare and collectable. There were less than 200,000 total Camaros produced from 98 to 02, they made more than that in 1967 alone. I def think thirty years from now a clean 98 to 02 f body will be rare and collectable.

Whats the point of this thread?
If you really want to sell it you lower the price until it's sold. It's as simple as that. A car is only worth what someone will pay. Sounds stupid but its a fact. You obviously wanted to much money. Same mistake a lot of people make. They think their car is the special one that will sell for more than its worth. Old story.
You were asking $17,500 for a car that books for $12,800 on a trade in.
Hi retail is $15,000 and your not a dealership. You didnt get a bite because most people wont make an offer where someone is asking $5000 to much to begin with. You needed to ask for 14,500 to be serious about selling. People aren't stupid but every once in a while you find a kid with to much money and no sense. You were hoping for that. Wont happen with a 98-02 z/28 when the SS and WS6 are sold as the top dog.
