Default MAF sensor

I now know that it's not a good idea to touch a MAF sensor, but I did. Does this effect my MPG? It seems that since I touched it, my MPG has dropped to about 10 MPG. But my gauge cluster resets everytime I crank my car, so I've never kept up with miles per tank.
Do yall think I could improve my MPG my getting a new one? Do yall think it harmed anything?

Well, I do know, the fact is, if the MAF is reading improperly it can run rich. So essentially, it could. But is it? I don't know.

Did you happen to bend or break any of the little wire "fingers" inside the MAF?

They are all there, but I may have bent them. I was cleaning all the dust out of the inlet tube thing and hit them.

Not good at all. Try to find another MAF you can borrow and test it. And why does your cluster "reset???"

Peace,
Craig.
