68 Camaro LS1 steering & oil pan options
There's lots of discussion about LS1 oil pan interference with stock steering linkage in 67-69 Camaros. I'm installing a 2001 T/A WS6 LS1. I'm looking to keep costs to a minimum. It's a bit confusing, but here's my questions:
1. If I keep my stock steering setup, I'll need a new oil pan (aftermarket only?) due to clearance problems of the center link. Cost = $500. Is there any other stock pans that I could get off a different car?
2. Instead of spending $500 on a new oil pan, can't I just install rack and pinion steering and keep the stock oil pan? Seems that if your going to spend the money, you'd spend it upgrading the steering and keep the stock pan? Am I missing something here?
