Default Looking at a LT1 with rebuilt top end...Good idea?

Hi all,

I am looking for a nice daily driver that has some ***** (refuse to drive anything less than 8 cyl), and for under 7 grand. Preferably manual, but if i have to i can go automatic route again.

Basically, I am looking at this car:

http://allentown.craigslist.org/car/487622913.html

What I was wondering is...since the bottom end hasn't been redone, is it a bad idea to buy an LT1 with 160k miles on it, supposedly all highway? I need something that is going to last, and I really don't want to put a new motor in a daily driver..it would really **** me off. How much could I expect to pay to get a rebuilt LT1 for though if I had to?

If anyone could give me advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks and merry xmas!

the piston rings still have 160k on them ant those would be the first to go so that is not a new like motor but i would talk him down a lot. You can get an ls1 6 speed manual for less then that with less miles and if you do the free mods and put $200 into it you will have a car with better gas milage less miles and it will probably make 320 horsepower to the wheels.

I would go for it. The lt1 really handles high miles very well. People have pulled the bottom end apart around 150k miles and found parts that still look fairly new. As long as you arent revving it super high it will be just fine.

Yea That is alot of miles but most of the time the parts look clean and have minimal wear. That price is a bit high, I would try to chew him down!!! With my car I started to mod it when it was stock, And I learned ALOT on it.

dam thats the most official craigslist add ive ever seen though. thats like over an hours work right there.

the car looks really nice and has alot of stuff on it, but like 180ls1 said, the bottom end still has 160k miles. And if you put a beating on the car, somethings bound to give.
