Your insurance company will only give you average retail for your car unless you had specific endorsements added to your policy for the work you have done to your car. Also, I would not recommend that you tell them that it had a turbo on the car or any other performance parts....Your company will either raise your rates or even cancel your policy as soon as they leagally can.

If you didn't have gap insurance you won't get anything for your mods. I got what my car was worth according to NADA; the ins. co. came up with the same figure I did, minus my deductible. But, they won't pay for any mods. Cut your losses, get another one and start over. I lost about $3k in mods. But I think it may be legal to claim the loss on your income tax return. I plan on doing that, but I have to check with my accountant first.

There are some car thieves, that have an insider in a dealership. They see your nice looking ride and get the vin number from the plate on the dash. Then the insider makes a key for them, since they got your vin number. then they go back, get in the car, and drive it away like they own it. Put a business card over your vin number on the dash, so they can't read it. this is what I have done to hopefully prevent this type of thing from happening to me. I hope the cops find your car in one piece and you can get it back.

update: no word yet but my insurance is very kind, they will more than likely refund me for some of my mods and stereo system if i show them the reciepts.
no one has found my car but the underground scene now knows that my car is stolen and a reward is out..so im keeping my fingers crossed.

its most likely already been chopped honestly iv seen many many cars stolen every year on here and well most of the time they are found totaled or never found (chopped up so bad)
get them to pay for the big things
stereo, rims (if you had some), Turbo kit and any motor/tranny work.. id take a hit on the rest and get the high value of the car on top of that

update again: Talked with insurance, if the aftermarket parts increase value of the car and if there is a market for it *I.E. if someone will buy a turbo'ed camaro* they will pay for the loss.
So who here wanted to buy a turbo camaro

That sucks dude - some people just make me sick. And as for the whole "how did they get it without the key" - you would be amazed at how good some of the pros are at stealing cars without the keys and with the alarm armed (I have a lot of buds who are cops and see it all the time). These devices usually just keep the honest man honest, as ANY car can be stolen if an experienced person wants it bad enough. Hope they catch the bastard(s).
