tell them to go to a dealer to compare the values on the cars. and provide them with as many receipts as possible for all the aftermarket parts/work that was in your car.

good luck. dont go down without a fight

For a 98-99 Z28 (haven't seen the year mentioned here, so I'm going by the pictures posted in the previous part)??? Don't think so.

Unless he had extra coverage for the aftermarket parts he had installed (which I guess he didn't have...), he is unfortunately almost SOL.

By "almost" I mean that there is always some room for negotiation after the first offer, especially if he can produce receipts for all the work and parts, but I don't think they'll still budge much.

Hope for the best, though.

that sucks...i have usaa, and they suck, i hate them, as soon as i get back from iraq im switching to statefarm....geico sucks to, i had a lifted dodge ram run over my firebird in a parking lot while i was parked, and geico refused to give me anything for it because it was a 89 and i was 16...keep fighting them, they usually give in if you yell at them on the phone

update: adjuster asked me what i thought a fair price was, i said 12k so he could talk me down some or not at all. he said he felt that was a fair price so we will see what happens

after that, we negotiate the buyback price, but he said its at 25 percent right now..hmm

You can't go wrong with State Farm. Sure, they're probably the most expensive insurance firm but they'll take care of you when you need it...

Chris, the buyback price is usually based on what they can get out of the car if they sold it at a salvage yard... I think 25% is a little on the high end though.

Well thats not too shabby, is it just the motor and transmission that are gone? Or did they mess up the interior/exterior?
edit: Also is the car paid off?

Hmmm... I'd try to go for 12K even then minus whatever salvage value to buy it back. Do you want to keep it or just take the full settlement and buy another?

^^^why if hes getting 11.5 I think thats pretty fair. Anyways I dont know if I would want to buy it back and build it up unless you never plan on selling it. a salvage title hurts. Id say buy another one, swap out the tranny and sell the old tranny for some beer money. you dont have to do 1/4 of the work, and its something new to you!

After reading this I called usaa to see if I could get a clause for all the mods done to my truck and they said they dont do that. But if something happens and I have reciepts or pictures of the modifications then it would be covered-something to ponder about
