not a very good deal, and why on earth would you want an automatic?

i talked a local dealership down from 10k to $7500 on a 2000 SS A4 with the same mileage.... i then backed out because i priced out the M6 swap and decided the numbers were against me.

they took that car in on trade for 5k i later found out.

I don't know about that. I've been looking for a TA for a while now and it's hard to find anything for under 9k. Just check out the for sale section here. Lots of them going in the teens. As long as it's super clean I think anything under 8k is a good buy.

I'd say it's not worth it...just take your time and get exactly what you want, that's a lot of miles. I have 107k miles and my trans is slipping very badly. I rushed into buying mine and I regret it.

I agree with kokingss. Ask for a demo! I'm in with a big group of f-body guys and if that car is running with 4L60E(auto) the trans is in need of a rebuild. Almost certain that when these cars hit 100k, that trans needs some TLC. I think most would agree here. I had mine rebuilt at 90k for $1,400 with a 2 year 24k warrenty. Consider it an investment...

I agree with you, I spent a long time looking for my 00 WS6 last Fall. There is not much out there under 10k.

If the car has been taken care of and you don't plan on racing it or putting a stall in it you will be fine. I would recommend putting in a tranny cooler!! Heat is a killer for a tranny.

Well to address more than one post... I want an A4 because I don't like all the hassle of a stick in the city. Also, I would plan on stalling it up around 34-3600 or so.. And based on what you guys are saying about the trans, if it's not dead already, a stall would execute it.

I'm gonna continue looking around, but I might go back just so I can get a feel for it again.

Also, I found a local F-body pro who was gonna come check it out, but once I told him the dealership it's at, he told me they've got a very bad history.. Something not too warming to hear.

I might as well find out if anything's been done to the transmission or not... maybe they'd have something on record. (Doubt it)

It's 8 years old with a 100k miles. I guess I just look at it a little differently from a perspective of not necessarily looking for an LS1 or eager to jump into one like a first time buyer would be. I've drove LS1's most of my driving life.
17-21....

That being said I bought my SS for 8k with 116k miles, one owner, stock and clean as hell in the fall of 04. Had it up until July of 07, and it still ran perfect even with all the mods.

Don't **** on the autos. We run more consistent times than the manuals on the track! .. You guys just have the bragging rights but we have our own advantages over you!

If the dealer has a bad history, just stay away, there are other cars out there.

I spent more on replacing automatic transmissions than I did for my entire car, and THEN the 6spd swap. Its so nice to be able to go somewhere and know I won't have to limp home in 1st gear (5 times was enough). Point here is, if it IS having tranny problem just talk them down a lot, I bought mine knowing it was missing 2 gears but I got almost 4k off the price because they apparently didn't know there as a problem. Otherwise, craigslist is your friend, find a better deal.
