Default looking for info on ls1 shortblock for 99 vette

im strongly considering picking up a corvette with a thrown rod, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on where would be the best place to pick up a shortblock ls1 for the corvette and also a price estimate. the only place i know of to call is my local dealership.

Well...I'm not an expert or anything but...depends what your'e looking for. If you just want a block...summit offers some blocks and even some crate motors. If you want a complete motor...go to the parts clssified see what's there, or go to the parts wanted and post up that your'e looking for a complete LS1 motor. It also depends on how much dough you wanna throw at a motor. You probably could find a complete motor ready to install for around 4-5k...just look around on the forum or the rest of the web...there are plenty of deals for the LS1's out there.

There's one long block on their with a chipped head(probably something hit it in accident) with 65k Miles for $1900 look around...

Check the sale section I got an 02 longblock with 25K miles for $1500. Sold the ls6 intake for $300 when I got it home, plus when I checked the casting #'s it was an LS6 block.

where are you located? Since I can't post a link to the site, search for Contemporary Corvettes in PA or on Ebay F-Parts. By the way you don't have to get a Vette Shortblock. you can use a block from a 98-02 Camaro/Firebird or a 04 GTO. They're all the same minus some updates that happened thru the years
