2002 WS6, What's it worth?

2002 WS6, What's it worth?
I have found 2 WS6 Trans Ams. One has 2750 miles on it. It is black with an auto. Asking price is $26,500. The other has 2300 miles and is Dark blue with a 6 sp. Asking price is $28,500. Yes these are garage queens that looked like they just rolled off the show room floor. (At least I can verify this with the black one that is just a few miles from my home). Tough to shell out this kind of coin on a 6 year old car, even though it is like brand new. Put 40,000 miles on it and the price drops $10,000. What do you think these cars are truly worth? I guess time will tell. I mean, if they actually sell for that, then I suppose they are worth it. I am tempted to purchase the black one. I already offered him (a dealer, bummer) $22K and he stuck his nose up in the air and politely showed me to the door. I could offer him more and maybe get the car, but that may just mean I am stupid, not that the car is worth that much. What do you experts think?

I have owned 11 4th gen F-Bodies and love the F-Body to death. There is no way in hell I would pay over $12k for a F-Body even if it had 20 miles. Check the classified section here. There are some real beauties going for great prices

Yea, why not go with one around 50k miles for around $10k? It would be very stupid to buy one of those, unless you don't plan on driving it for the next 50 years then sell for what I assume will be a nice chunk of change.

No way in hell would I give that much for an F-body, sorry. I wouldn't even give 15k for one honestly no matter the miles.
They are just cheap cars that go fast, if you want something that will keep that kind of value I'd get an 03-04 Cobra myself. They tend to hold value more.
Just, no....

OP - don't get me wrong, it's your money, do what you want. You asked a question, and I don't think it's worth more than $22k... That and if I had $22k I'd be buying a Ws6 for $12k with 50k miles and use the other $10k to make that thing disappear. [Go really really fast]

I can't say that I wouldn't buy it if I were you. You want what you want and no one can tell you different. If your unsure, just listen to what everyone has to say. I will mention this though, the new camaro's are coming out and the price tag isn't expected to be much more than what your looking at now. Unfortunately, they aren't doing the trans am's as well which I think is BS, I don't own one, but I do like them as much as the camaro's. Like I said, you want what you want.

As stated above, it depends on what you are looking for, how bad you want it. I paid 21K (plus tax, etc, etc) at a dealer in August of 2006 for a 2002 WS6 A4 with 13K on the clock. Yes, it's high, but I had been looking for a nice, low mileage, Black, with automatic, for over 2 years. I didn't want to let this one slip away. But keep in mind, if someone were to slam into you on the way home (god forbid), insurance would only cover up to the high retail (NADA in the case of State Farm).

Keep this in mind. The bank is only going to finance high retail at the most. Anything above that your gonna need as a down payment.
Also ask yourself. After paying that much for them, are you going to drive and mod them destroying the value.
I wouldn't buy either one. Too expensive.

If thats the car you want buy it! I would not pay over $20,000.00 for it. That is the last year for the Trans Am, so I would think it should maintain its value alot better than say a 02 Camaro.

Thanks for all your input. I think I will just wait and see what happens. While the car I purchase won't be a daily driver, I will definately put two or three thousand miles on it every year. If I bought the T/A, I would not be able to drive it much. I would also be forced to leave it stock (assuming I wanted it to retain it's value somewhat). I was actually looking for an 01/02 Camaro SS when I found this T/A. I think I will keep looking for a clean (and stock) F-Body with no more than 30K miles. That way I can drive it and mod it all I want without feeling bad that the value is going down every year.
