hp/torque relating to track times...
so i'm always seeing numbers from various cam only or heads/cam packages. and it has always been a curiosity.
assuming you had 2 IDENTICAL cars, and assuming you raced them side by side with identical launches, identical traction, and optimal shifting.
the only difference is the valvetrain
car 1 - 400rwhp with 400rw torque
car 2 - 420rwhp with 380rw torque
in the 1/4 mile who would win??
is more torque gonna give the advantage? less hp the disadvantage? would they both be equal?

Part of the issue is that the numbers you give are only "peak" horsepower and torque numbers. In a racing situation, every gear is going to be used for a good 1,500-3,000 RPM powerband range, depending on the setup and car. In that case, it may be the car with the highest "average" horsepower or torque over that range that would pull the win. Just my $0.02.
I'm sure it will be debated quite a bit.
