I think I crapped myself today!

I was passing a car today, I shifted into forth and my car went instantly to rev limiter. I shut the car off and pulled over. Tried to fire it up and it instantly went to the rev limiter again, I quickly shut off. I looked under my car for oil....I had no idea what was going on. I noticed my gas peddle was kinda flappin in the wind. So I popped the hood and looked at my throttle cable, that also was flapping in the wind, I gave the TB a smack and the spring snapped back.
I was a victim of a WOT gas peddle sticking .....
I was a little scared. How do you fix this problem?

try spraying out the tb with throttle body cleaner while holding the engine at 2500rpm and lubing the cable and linkage with wd-40 this is what we did at the chevy garage i used to work for seems to work for a while

Happened to me in my buddies Trans Am. At first I didn't notice, we were racing, and then I realized even though I hit the breaks I was still speeding up.
Had to put it in nuetral and kill it.

Who ported and polished your throttle body? If they also did the bump stop mod, you should check to see if the throttle blade goes past 90*. If so, a vigorous thrust of the right foot
can open the throttle plate too far and bind the plate in the TB.
If its ground too far, you may need to drill and tap the stop for a threaded screw to stop the throttle from over centering.

Look at me! I can mash the gas and do uncontrolable circles in my car that my parents bought me.

That would kinda scare me too especially if there were any cars around. I'd still be quick enough to throw it in neutral though. Does that ever happen with stock unported throttle bodies?

WHAT?
I had to buy my own freakin' car! You mean i did it wrong? I'm gonna call Dad and Mom and have a little chat with them. They also won't pay for any parts I tear up. What's going on here?
Don't they know how expensive it is to abuse a car?

to the OP, clean your tb with the seafoam spray and lube it with wd40 while open and closing the blade.

when I installed my first stereo system (quite a few years back) I ran the power cable by the TB, and one time it grabbed the cable and stuck on the high way...thank god it was in my old weak mazda..haha
