I think you will find that to be an extremely gray area.
I know OEMs see as lean as 17 against 1 so we know that is do-able. Surely, we have to approach this much more sensitively because we dont have the controls implemented into our PCMs. Unless you have a GTO.

I have experimented with 15,9 against 1 for awhile. The engine still runs. It wants to knock when you go more lean. No cooling problems. I am weary of going for 17 against 1.

I was seeing 24mpg when i would drive to york PA from south jersey. that means running around 80mph when im not sitting in crappy, stop and go philadelphia traffic for an hour. i always wondered what i wouldve been without stop and go mixed in with it... I usually would get 20 around town, im a bit of a leadfoot

to calculate your MPG, you need to completely fill up the car before leaving and reset your trip meter. then refill again once you get to your destination. note how many gallons of gas you put in the second time, then divide the miles traveled by the number of gallons added....and you have your MPG.

for instance, he traveled 116 miles, and added 3.75 gallons

so: 116 / 3.75 = 30.93mpg

for whatever reason, i experienced insanely good fuel economy over the weekend in my DD camry. i think something throws off the pump when you only put in less than 5 gallons to top off the tank. on my camry while i did a pit stop on my highway trip after driving 192 miles, i decided to top off the tank. it only took 4.3 gallons before the pump clicked off. thats 44.7 mpg. yeah, there is no way considering i typically only get 32-35 on the highway at best.

anybody who gets 27+ in an fbody drives like a complete grandma. You cannot take the car over 2.5k and still get 27+.

Impossible unless you drive non stop the whole way.

I average 25 on mine.

I saw 29.5mpg last year on my trip down to the Ocean City Cruise week. About a four-hour trip for me, 75% highway, 25% long flat two-lane road. Hard to complain about that with 400hp+ standing by.

When I filled up for the first time after my tune things came out to 29.X MPG a few weeks ago. I was freaking, thought something was wrong since the previous best with my mods before the tune was around 22. Anyway, come to find out the pump was out of calibartion so it was giving more gas than I was paying for. My beater ended up getting 35 MPG instead of 25 and my wifes car got 39 MPG instead of 27. Needless to say they have since figured out the problem, so that gravy train has run out. Nice while it lasted.
