Default Decent Price?

http://cars.dealer123.com/Hawkinson-...66-114237.html

They want $12,000 for the TA. Has 67k miles, I test drove it and everything seems mechanically sound. Interior is immaculate and only 2 tiny scratches on the body. Full options. Is it a decent price or should I come in lower?

They list it as a Formula but it's got the Trans Am front/rear bumpers and the TA spoiler.

Seems weird to me

Dealers are clueless about most makes models. Don't you want an M6? Auto is boring IMO.

i swear its impossible to find a M6 where I live, for $1500 i can always swap the transmissions. however considering the g/f has to drive it sometimes too she cant drive stick.

it'll likely cost more than that, if you do all the work yourself, maybe...

IMO that price seems a bit high for an auto, 6 speeds are typically a little more expensive, but you can find an auto with those miles for less if you really look. but if you like it, go for it.

Might not be your 1st choice, but if you can buy it for $12K with no dealer fees (just pure extra profit) and just adding for tax, title & tags, then $12k is a great price for buying at a dealer. (due to the dealer markup over trade in values & remember that with 67K miles, Registered Dealer's have to warranty most items for 30 to 60 days. Ask them about this to be clear.

It looks similar to my '98. A Ram Air Hood will be a nice addition. If you'd like one, offer dealer $11,500 (& remember Dealer fees are profit only,
as shape up, maintenance, brakes, advertising pack, etc are added to the trade in value)
My reasoning is that "If the price needs to be at $12,500 with no dealer fee added then so be it, but to negotiate let's say to $12,500, then have $699 for example added as a Dealer or Prep fee...Well I just think a dealer may as well just negotiate down to the $12,699. Atleast it's honest biz.
But what do I know after 25+ years in and around the business & it's just JMO anyway.
Best of Luck. (But LS power brings Luck anyway, No?)

Btw, check dealer equipment code sticker on left hand inner door by latch. Look for GU5 code for 3.23 gears. The Auto works nice with that as a start, otherwise with an Auto Trans, if you don't see GU5 it'll be the lower numerical ratio. 2,73
