Dumb question regarding the brake release on the auto shifter
When pulling the trans a while back I got it hooked on the shift cable and did not catch it in time so it snapped a clip off of the end. So I now have to replace the cable. The PCM is not here right now and I need to remove the plastic cover that fits over the shifter to get to the top end of the cable but to do this I need to move the shifter into the Manual 1 position so it will clear, those who have done this understand. But when I hit the brakes to release the shifter out of the Park position it wont release because there are no electronics hooked up. Usually there is a manual release button somewhere, does anyone know how to get this thing to release so I can place the shifter in the extreme rear position (M1)??
Or will I need to plug the PCM back in and hook all the electronics up?
