Always leave your car in 1ST and E-brake on. Your car can roll in most gears other than 1ST because they are not as low a gear. You can put it in 6th and simply push it along with minimal compression braking. Make it a habit to ALWAYS do it. Also using your Ebrake frequently prevents it from locking up due to rusted cable and gears.
This should be madatory!!

what the hell does it matter if your tranny explodes from being hit while in first.
A force that strong is going to total an F-body FYI.

always use both, one needs to back the other up, in case of failure.

I always use the e-brake and NEVER leave it in gear. Always in neutral when it's parked

E-brake and neutral most of the time.

My reasoning for leaving it in neutral is that I have a brand new shifter and the springs in the shifter help pull it into neutral and also help with the 2-3 shift when racing(atleast I feel that way), so i figured why wear it out if the e brake will do the job?

^^^^You could at least put it in 3rd then since that's where neutral is side to side, it would just be up in gear.

Just the e-brake for parking. Just in gear for storage.

Never in gear for parking because I have and continue to share cars with other family members. They have different habits with starting and parking. So not in gear is safest default.

2nd gear and e brake, reasoning for 2nd gear is because, my beater (90 probe GL) 1st gear syncro is messed up so its kinda hard to get into 1st so I just put it in second. And the e brake doesn't work on the probe so only 2nd gear for me on that one!

the 99 Z28 manual I just found in my spare tire compartment recommends putting it in Reverse and setting the e-brake.

just thought i'd point out what chevy thought was the best.

I usually only e-brake unless I park on a steep hill; then it's opposing gear and e-brake.
