I began using Amsoil EaO filters after reading about this guy's "independent" test.

My oil does "look" (for what thats worth) a lot cleaner for more miles than with the Mobil 1 filters I was using. I've been meaning to send off a sample to one of the labs to see if it actually IS cleaner.

Amsoil SSO and Amsoil EaO filter is what I use. Piston slap is gone, no more oil consumption and the oil stays clean looking alot longer than anything else I have ever used. I change my oil once a year.

I usually use Napa Gold but picked up a AC Delco last night while at Advanced. Looked at the K&N but dang it was $15. I just couldn't see paying that for a filter that i change every 3,000 miles.

My father had trucks in his fleet that only had regular (non-syn) oil changes every 20k miles. It used to drive me crazy but these trucks were pushing 200k miles. This is when I realized that changing your oil every 3k miles is a huge waste.

IF you change every 3k miles then it doesn't matter which filter you buy. You can run out to 10k or more with a good syn oil and filter. Keep up those 3k changes.

I change mine every 10k miles with amsoil sso 0w-30 oil and amsoil Eao filter. I don't really stress my engine with only street driving (no track/drag) although I periodically run it wide open for short stints. Nothing that causes extremely high heat/stress.
But here in central TX where the summer temp is regularly in the 100's I feel better using the best 0-30W syn. as opposed to ford's recommended 5w-20.
A good syn/quality filter should run out to 10k miles easily on a street-driven car. Under normal conditions/dirt/dust/sand.
