Default MotorTrend Test drives new Camaro

Just read the article in the new motortrend of the first drive of the Camaro.

Great article. It's the v6, but still they had a lot of great things to say about it.

Some of the great quotes:

"The mustang can only dream of delivering handling at this level of performance and sophistication"

"At the risk of inducing insider trading, now would be a great time to sell your mustang stock"

Apparently they'll test drive the v8's in a couple months.

A few stats for anyone that has been in the dark...

3.6L DOHC direct inject v6 = 310hp/276tq
Currently 6.1 0-60, they plan to get the v6 under 6.0
Base price - Mid to low $20's

Glad to see they're excited about it, as we all are

I'm glad GM stepped up to compete with other V6 cars on the market.

They said the V6 had more technology put into the engine then the LS motor there putting in for the other models.

Yeah, another line in the article compares the v6 car to the Infiniti G37 rather than the stang..

Yeah, I agree with that - Variarable Valve timing + Direct injection = pretty high tech

I'm glad to see the magazine companies aren't bashing it. Hopefully it sells so we can get the S/C Z-28

considering that the V6 ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT A QUESTION, HAS to be the breadwinner for the Camaro to succeed, this bodes very well. I mean I see 7:1 ratios of v6:v8 stangs on the road so this v6 offering Stang V8 performance (300hp, rwd) with high tech stuff that impress the less auto-educated people should (dare i say WILL) appeal to the masses.

let me put it this way:
+1 v6 5th Gen sale= +1 in the LSA Z28 stock

I wonder how hard it would be to swap that 3.5 5 cylinder out of and install that new 3.6 in my GMC Canyon. Thats one mean 6 cylinder puttinng out 310 hp!

Very impressive, I would be pissed if a stock v6 Camaro beat me in my new Stang GT.

it wont because of weight but again why compare a v6 to a v8....lets see what how the LS3 holds the competition off.
