battery gauge ??

battery gauge ?? I have a 2000 Z28, i've replaced the alternator, and battery this week. Here's what's happening..
My battery meter will sometimes be right in the middle showing normal charge, and then sometimes for no reason i can think of it goes in the red, dash lights dim down like it's low on power, then for no reason it will go back up after a while. Revving the engine doesn't bring the gauge back up. New alt, and battery this week, and still having problems.
I've checked the wires running from alt to battery and they're fine.
Any ideas???

is it a new or remanufactured alt.? i went thru the same issue with 3 remanned alternators and inally gave up and bought a new one from the stealership... no problems since that
