Default P0440 Code and Car Bogs... Help!

Hey guys,

I have a 00 V6 Firebird that's throwing a P0440 code with the check engine light on. 2 months ago the light came on and the car started bogging... wouldn't accelerate.. seemed to hang in gear. Took it to a shop and it was throwing a code for the Cat. Converter... replaced it.. and the car drove fine! Back to normal.

Now, the light is back on and the car is doing the same thing.. bogging in gear.. decreased acceleration. I thought it was the Cat again.. took it back to the same shop and they ran a diag. and its coming backwith this P0440 code. I've read some searches on here.. and got some general info but was hoping someone could help.

It's not the gas cap as the cap wouldnt cause it to bog. Any suggestions on what might be causing it ? Don't want to have to take it to Pontiac for diag. Any help is appreciated.

Just an idea...check the ENG CTRL fuse and see if it's blown. On a V6 the ignition module, A4 trans and EVAP charcoal canister purge valve are on the same circuit.
