same thing happened to me, I had to pull the steering wheel off and the ignition out and the little white wire was broken. I solder them back together and all good now.

must be that time of year cause that happened to me yesterday and another guy that owns a camaro. after much diagnosis and the car turning over and not starting i found out my vats module is bad. crank it for a bit and check your codes. could be a p016XX code (anti theft code)

HA, this JUST happened to both my TA's almost simultaneously with a recent temperature drop. I was really lucky though. I cleaned out the cylinder and the keys themselves and they work fine now.

Same problem = BCM. Had it replaced and have never had the problem again.

Try cleaning the key with a pencil eraser. I've heard of also using alcohol. Mine started doing that and i cleaned the key with the eraser and it's been fine since. That might not be the problem but i would try that first.

Bypass the VATS, and install a kill switch.

I used alcohol on the key and a keyboard duster (spray can) into the ignition cylinder...

Since that day, I **** a mini-brick every morning starting the car for work, wondering if it's going to be the day the VATS finally screws me.

always use to happen to me-dont no why it stopped. i dont no if this is how you are suppose to do it but every time my car wouldnt crank and i saw the security light come on i would get out, lock the car, then wait 2-3 minutes for the light to turn off. i would clean my key while waiting just to make sure-get in and it would crank right up.
