Default headlamp motor problems...this is weird!!!! help me out!!!

The other night, i turned my headlights off and they went down but the drivers motor kept running!!

THEN when i locked the car with the key fob, they popped up and down and the motor ran again for a few seconds. What in hell could cause that?

I'm gonna try replacing the switch in the dash tonight.....but i ALSO noticed that if you turn on the parking lights...the lamps pop up but dont come on.

this is weird.

Hey i just want to let you know that u dont really need to use the directions given on that site....they are showing a older model firebird/camaro....if u have the newer one....98-02 u can do it much easier(I just had to do it)....use the manul raise **** and raise the light...then look at the lever that raises the light...you will see that the joint goeses to a a small axel from the motor...it is held on with a bolt that you need to remove...then u have to pull the joint off...let me tell you its nearly impossible...even with liquid wrench its tough....then use the manual **** to turn the motor ****....it goes slow but make sure you watch the axel that held the joint...that is what must be rotated 180 degrees....then put it back together lower the light and it will electronically rebalance

I had the same problem with mine. Lock the doors and they would come up then down and once down make a horrible noise. . The motor only uses half the gear so i attempted the 180 degree swap. Now it just does it when the light are going up. But, the problem with locking the doors stopped though. I just have to help it up a little. Or if i am on the highway it will go up bt itself due to the wind helping.
Here is a site that will show you how to attempt the 180 swap or he sells some metal gears that wont strip.
Hope it helps. It helped me. Just be ready to spend some time on it though if its your first time.

My car started this last week, so I need to look into the 180° gear flip or the metal gears..........
