Default Misfire

So my car has a small misfire. I dont know if its logged any codes for this b/c I have an ses light due to no egr etc. The plugs and wires only have about 600 miles on them and it only seems to mis at lower rpms. Above 3k it seems just fine. Where should I start trying to track this down. Could it be a bad coil pack?

do you know for a fact its a misfire or does it just sound like a misfire, see if u can get ur hands on an automotive stethoscope and poke around a bit, the reason y i say this is becuz i had a very similar problem(ticking sound at low RPM) it was coming right behind the crank pulley, the route of the problem was worn timing chain and sprockets. not sayin u dont have a misfire, just speaking from experience. also may be a leaky header bolt.

Im pretty sure its a misfire b/c when you throttle up the tac will seem to pull then skip/jump up. The car also seems slightly sluggish then it will feel like there is extra power. Hard to explain it feels similar to when a clutch begins slipping, except I know the clutch is holding. Also if i stick my hand by the tail pipe there are several exhaust pulses that are cold.

Should I start by pulling the plugs and checking for any fouling? Would this help determine which cylinder ?

u might have leaky header bolts, that could cause what ur experiencing, or if ur runnin cats u may have a bad cat, what u suggested would also be a good approach bad plugs and wires would cause erratic tach readings, similar to what u said about how it felt like the clutch slippage.

I should retitle this thread wtf is going on. Had the codes pulled today and the only that comes up is for my missing egr valve. The car does not pull very well from 2-2500 above that it seems ok. It seems to do this more when the car is hot rather than cold. WTF is going on? Is this an injector and not a misfire?

now that u say that you might have a bad CAT, the cells could've started 2 melt together and the gas that the egr takes might be accurate do to lack of flow and thats why its throwin a code, and a bad CAT can also explain why the car doesn't want to accelerate from 2000- 2500 rpm on up

I have no cats b/c I've got an ory, and my egr was removed when I installed the mac headers b/c they only had air provisions and none for the egr valve.

I'm going to pull the plugs tomorrow and see how they look, and regap them. Do you think this may be a fuel injector issue?

only if the plug is fried, what can happen is if the plug gets worn enough the electrode literally breaks and the gap is increased therefore changing spark.

Just got done pulling all the plugs. The no 8 plug was diritier then the others. I regapped them all and cleaned them. I also moved the No.8 coil pack to the number 2 location just incase it is an issue with that so I wont have to dig around back there again. So far it seems ok. Im wondering if running the seafoam through my fuel tank may have had anything to do with this issue?
