I was driving yesterday and noticed my oil gauge was sort of jittering around while I was stopped at idle. Almost like it couldn't decide between 38 psi to 42 psi.
Could this be the oil pressure sending unit dying on me?
I did a recent oil change to a lighter oil, but I doubt that is related.
Any help is appreciated!

Could be the pressure release spring for the oiling system. You could throw a mechanical gauge on it to double check but if you still have pressure and it rises with RPM I would let it eat. Mine did that for a little but but stopped and has been fine. Just see if it goes away with time but if it gets worse it could be the oil pump. Just keep a close eye on it.

try checking ur oil sensor it usually is sitting above where the oil filter is its a black piece that is connecting to wires that controls ur gauge in the car i was changing my oil filter and my hand slipped and hit the sensor and broke it on accident which caused my gauge not to work at all and i went to autozone and got one for like 30 bux try it if it doesnt work return in

FireChickenws6: Thanks for the reply and yeah the psi goes back to normal when accelerating (increases).
camarolover209: I'm pretty sure your sensor is in a different spot because you have the 3.8, but if not, that could be a very real possibility. My filter was being feisty

What kind of filter are you running? This happends on a lot of cars if your running a crappy filter such as a Fram. It was doing it on my 3.8 bird then i found out how shitty frams are and went to a delco filter and went away completely.

Alright thanks everybody! I will just wait it out, if all of sudden I'm at 0psi I know it's time to replace the sending unit.
To the guy who mentioned the 3.8 bird, I'm running the Amsoil Ea032...so I don't really think that applies
